Alex has walked and fed my Belgian Shepherd (Laekenois), Daerich every weekday since he was about 10 weeks old (he is over a year now). She has been fantastic and my dog has definitely bonded with her. Not only is Alex extremely reliable but she leaves daily feedback about behavior (heeling, socialization, eating etc) and even once called me immediately when she found my back door unlocked (which I left open). In addition Alex has helped improve my dog's obedience and offered many useful suggestions for ways to keep a high energy dog occupied during the day. I took a job in Washington DC because it was a great opportunity and a great salary. But living in Baltimore, that unfortunately meant I had to be out of the house for 12 hours a day! I called Alex and Canine Caretakers to set up a meeting to discuss daily dog-walking for my dog, Callie. Callie took to Alex instantly and I felt very comfortable knowing how responsible and attentive to Callie’s needs she is. In addition to the daily walks, I have also had Callie spend overnights with Alex and they have a ball going to the dog park and on long walks.
Based on my commute and my job, there have been days when I’ve gotten stuck at the office late and needed to have Alex come and let Callie out again and feed her dinner. Alex has always been there for me. Callie is far more relaxed and comfortable with her mid-day walks and it takes a lot of stress off me, knowing she’s taken care of. I contacted Alex through her website and asked if she could watch my cats (Riley 11 years old and Lily 11 years old). Riley was having some health issues and I was afraid to leave him alone. However, I had my vacation planned and he wasn't in any immediate danger. After speaking with Alex, I found she used the same vet as I do. She assured me that if he were to become sick during my absence, she would immediately take him to the vet. She asked all the right questions (where is the cat carrier, etc.). Fortunately Riley was fine...and I have used Alex and her services ever since. That is the best insurance I can ask for during my absence.

I generally work from home, but travel frequently for 2-3 days at a time. I generally have Alex come once or twice a day for 15-30 minutes a visit. I have a fenced in back yard which is great and allows them to play fetch and run around. Due to my schedule, I email Alex about 1 -2 days prior to when i need help with Buzz and Boulder and she has always been able to come!
There is always a note when I get home, so I know the dogs were OK and behaved themselves. (Buzz is very protective of the house when we are away from home)
I accidentally booked a visit when I was home one day, and I could tell that the dogs absolutely love her! She walked in and they were so happy to see her!

Canine Caretakers has been a wonderful way that we can work longer days worry free. Alex was immediately swarmed and loved by all of our animals, and there are quite a few! We have a Great Dane with special needs, a second Dane, a really old Dachshund mix, and four cats. Anybody who knows and loves dogs also knows that they are the best judge of character. Canine Caretakers is absolutely terrific -- 100% reliable, always on time for regular visits, but also flexible in accommodating occasional changes in our schedule or special needs. But the best part is how happy our dog is! He's a handful -- very energetic, 2-year-old, 90-pound male lab, with quite a stubborn streak and a bit of a temperamental nature. When I first contacted Canine Caretakers, I had recently had a tragic experience with another pet sitter so I was more than a bit anxious about leaving my dogs. However, when Alex came to my home for the initial meeting, I felt at ease almost immediately. She is truly a dog lover. My Chow mix can be a challenge at times especially around other dogs and my Shar-Pei was a victim of abuse. Alex doesn’t miss a beat in accommodating the special needs of my pets.
